Ah, that list was not chronological but sorted by strength-of-memory. If we want to be chronological about it: I failed to read Emma in 1996 but managed it in 2001, I read The Phantom of the Opera in probably 1998 or 1999, Gravity’s Rainbow was in 2004, and so was Gone with the Wind. (I can’t even bring myself to count the number of old journals and blogs I had to search through to figure out those dates.)
